In Worcestershire children can start First School, if their parents wish, in the September of the school year in which they become five. For children due to start in September 2027 the child's date of birth falls between 1 September 2021 and 31 August 2022. The school year starts on 1 September.

Applications must be made to Worcestershire County Council for every child starting school in September 2027. 

Parents can apply online 24 hours a day, seven days a week from November until midnight on 15 January or by completing a paper form which can be downloaded from:

There are two types of school admissions:

1. In‑year admissions – These are for children who join the school outside of the usual Reception intake.
2. Reception admissions – These are for children starting in Reception in September.

The application processes for these two types of admissions are different.
