Pupil Premium
What is the Pupil Premium?
Research shows that pupils from deprived backgrounds underachieve in comparison to their regular peers. Those eligible for Free School Meals are a key indicator for this issue and the government are using this information to deploy a fixed amount of funding to schools.
The school are able to decide where best the funds can be spent in order to fulfil the specific purpose of increasing the attainment and progress of this group of pupils. An additional premium is also provided based on the number of pupils who have a parent working in the armed services. This is designed to address their emotional needs and well-being.
If you feel like your child may be entitled to Pupil Premium Funding (and therefore Free School Meals also) then an application must be made via the Worcester Citizen Portal website:
Our desired outcomes of the Pupil Premium:
-
For all disadvantaged pupils to make rapid progress towards achieving at Age Related Expectations (ARE).
-
For all disadvantaged pupils to remain a priority and receive a personal provision to help address any areas of inequality - making sure we meet their social, emotional, physical and learning needs.
-
For high-quality communication between home and school to be the norm.
-
For those less fortunate to be able to have access to a wider range of opportunities that might not ordinarily be available to them.
-
To maintain the focus on raising standards and narrowing the gap between high achievers and more vulnerable groups of learners.
